NUarts Open Studios & Gallery Exhibition

NUarts Open Studios & Gallery Exhibition

Sat, Sept 24th 11am-2pm

The NUarts Studios will be opening their doors to the public with open studios and an exhibition of works in the hallway gallery. Art and objects on display are created by artists of all kinds who form this group studio facility. Participating open studios will include the following artists: Kathy Gideon, Maryanne Murray, Brent Ridge, Joan Rooks, and Marney Schorr.

A selection of the art on display during the event will include the following: Maryanne Murray is a painter focused on portraiture and still life. Brent Ridge will be showing paintings, collages, and photographs depicting the post-industrial landscape using the aesthetics of transcendental abstraction. He will be offering attendees a collage workshop in his studio. Joan Rooks will be showing large format woodblock prints and 3D sculpture. Marney Schorr will show new ethereal gouache works on canvas from her Pain and Beauty series. During the event she will create a participatory “It’s My Body” community mural with acrylic on canvas in her studio.

NUarts houses the studios of over 20 local artists, musicians, artisans, art therapists and wellness services in the Greylock Building in downtown Pittsfield.  The collective is located on the second floor with entrances at 311 North Street and around the corner on Union Street.
